Path to Purchase and “Spiny”

The Path to Purchase Institute is a unique trade association that serves retailers, manufacturers, marketers, and every element of the retail industry. What sets Path to Purchase apart from most trade associations, is their deep focus on education and best practices—they aren’t just serving their members, they’re helping marketers and retailers improve their craft.

So, when an association that stresses best practices needs to add energy and pizazz to their annual award, “Design of the Time” whom do they call? Brella of course!

Challenges: How to showcase 100 winning entries across eight categories in one hour? How to go beyond the traditional PowerPoint/live presenter format? How to up the ante?

Working closely with Path to Purchase, Brella met all challenges with great design, detailed timelines, and a talented team. We introduced simple, stylish video animations, pumping music, and a few simple stage effects.

We also partnered with Path To Purchase’s A/V company to ensure smooth playback of all media, and flawless execution.

This is where “Spiny” comes in. We knew you would ask about Spiny.

Path to Purchase’s “Design of the Times” ceremony had a line-art mascot called “Spiny.” We did some light animation, and had Spiny introduce each category. Because when you have something called Spiny, you kind of have to use it.

The end result? The smoothest pre-production for the event on record, flawless execution on-site, and big smiles all around. Path to Purchase is looking forward to an even more ambitious show in 2014.

(And we hope to revive Spiny.)
